CSKA Milo March It

Congratulations then to CSKA Milo, winners of the 2007/8 Bristol City Supporters Trust Fantasy League. A bobbing tugboat of consistency throughout the season, CSKA bounced over the finish line with 678 points, an impressive haul indeed.

Doc’s Deliverers, winners of the inaugural Trust Fantasy League in 2005/6, finished a healthy second, on 562 points.

Coming in third on the strength of a phaal hot second half of the season were TFL debutants, Masala. Last season’s winners, The Nicola Six, could only manage fourth place this time around.

Join Our League
It’s a clean slate for all managers again in August and, as always, the Trust is looking for new managers to join in the fun. The game is run on the Classic Fantasy League website (http://classic.fantasyleague.com) and costs £10 to enter. Once you’ve registered a team, you can then apply to join the Trust’s “Friends and Enemies” League (our league within the league). This year there will be no additional charge to join the Trust Fantasy League, but you do need to be a member of the Trust to play.

The game allows for unlimited substitutions and a limited number of transfers throughout the season, but it is not overly time-consuming. A “supersubs” function means you can be away for weeks and still manage your team. The winner prevails by maintaining a good squad of fifteen Premier League players using his or her limited transfer budget, showing loyalty and ruthlessness when it counts, and hoping for a bit of luck along the way.

In addition to enjoying the best fantasy league game around, managers also get to suffer the banter that goes with being a part of the Trust’s online league. And of course they’ll also be in with a shout of winning—and holding for the season—the beauteous, solid red and gold plastic Bristol City Supporters Trust Fantasy League trophy pictured below. (The overarching Classic Fantasy League also offers numerous cash and other prizes.)

If you’re interested in joining the Trust’s Fantasy League for 2008/9, please send an email to miles@bristolcityst.org.uk and we’ll keep you informed of developments.
